SINCIERE is based on a bilateral agreement between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences (RCEES) and the University of Oslo in Norway (UiO) and Oslo Centre for Interdisciplinary Environmental and Social Research (CIENS).
On the Norwegian side, the Oslo Centre for Interdisciplinary Environmental and Social Research CIENS is a strategic research collaboration between independent research institutes and the University of Oslo. The centre is built on a shared scientific strategy and research program, with co-operation on research and information projects.
On the Chinese side, CAS “is targeting at the national strategic needs and world frontiers of science, striving to accomplish world-class science and to continuously make fundamental, strategic and forward-looking contributions to national economic construction, national security and social sustainable development by strengthening original scientific innovation, innovation of key technologies and system integration.”
The Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences RCEES, was established in 1986 with the merger of the CAS Institute of Environmental Chemistry with CAS Research Center of Ecology to be the first comprehensive research institution engaged in research on eco-environmental sciences and technology in China.
